AC40 Summer
The pairing of Nick Jonas with the ever popular Tove Lo has turned into pure magic. “Close” (Safehouse/Island) is the single that is getting raves and big time spins in the Hot AC and Top40 world. Those fun loving American Authors are at their best these days. They are taking the single “What We Live For” (Republic/Island) for a Summer spin and so far so very good. They are fast becoming one of the bet bands out in the USA and look for some even bigger and better things ahead for this rocking act.
Simple Plan is getting lots of love at the format. Their new “Singing In The Rain” (Atlantic) Is fast becoming a real favorite among our music and program directors. Some think this track is the best one yet from this powerhouse band. Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez are making beautiful music together both on a world-wide tour and at radio. Their duet entitled “We Don’t Talk Anymore” (Atlantic) is moving past the pack and up into higher territory. Newcomer Ruth B has a good thing going and make no mistake about that. Her “Lost Boy” (Columbia) is quite amazing and showcases just how strong this artist is as a vocalist. She should become a real favorite when Grammy time comes around
Tegan & Sara have a red hot single that deserves your immediate attention. “Boyfriend” (WB/WEA) Is the jam I’m talking about and this once could become a Summer smash in record time. Give it a few spins around the block to see how your listeners react. Jonas Blue has teamed up with Dakota for a winning combination. The track “Fast Car” (Capitol) has been a bit of a slow starter but don’t let that fool you. This one is a monster great record and just deserves a bit of a break to get to where it needs to go.
Wrable is rocking the format from coast to coast. “11 Blocks” (Epic) is the cut that is getting raves from our reporting stations. They might be trying to tell us something here. It’s great to see Florida Georgia Line cross to this format. “H.O.L.Y.” (Big Machine/Universal) is their latest and what a talented couple of guys they are. DNCE is back with the follow-up to their #1 smash “Cake By The Ocean”. Now the new one in “Toothbrush” (Republic) is helping to put the act back on the top of the charts.
Elton John is back and that’s always a good thing for our format. “A Good Heart” (Island) harkens back to the Elton of old and this one is a solid smash. Speaking of smash, the new single from Mirage Box fits nicely into that category. Their rendition of the classic hit “Magic” (Growlyman Endeavors) is just what the format needs this Summer. All you have to do is look at the early numbers to see just what I’m talking about. The proof is on the chart activity that you can see for yourself on our AC40 charts.
Newcomer Dru Ross is breaking with his debut single and in a very big way. “Love Simulation” (Ross Records) can be found at the top of many “most added” columns and that an indication of a single set to break wide-open. This young hip-hop “rocker” from the small town of Goldendale Washington has what it takes to become the “next big thing”. Also getting raves at radio is the new single from Renee Zawawi. Her new “Happy Hour” (PSP) is pulling in some rather impressive numbers and it’s now moving rapidly up the charts in record time. She’s got talent and beauty which will take her a long way.
Eileen Carey is on fire with her new “In The Air” (Rolley Coaster) single. The band Thadeus Project is killing it out there at radio with their “Hold On” (TRP) track. Mr Mister Wilson continues to build his fortunes as his “What Will Tomorrow Bring?” (Starchild Outreach) move closer to the top. Jimmy White has a big #1 with “Michaela” (828) and congrats to him on that. Brandy Moss Scott is getting closer with “Oh How It Hurts” (Heavenly Tunes). Chuck Murphy is on fire with his “Cow Girls” (One West) and Dianne Meinke is rocking big time with “Ten Thousand More” (UVI). I’ll have more for you next time right here.
