REFINERY29’S THE DROP PREMIERES KALIE SHORR’S “LULLABY” MUSIC VIDEO
Kalie Shorr showcases the genre-bending direction of her upcoming album with the premiere of her new music video, “Lullaby,” on Refinery29’s The Drop. This new video and song displays Shorr’s unique style and personal tenacity adding a whimsical take on a serious subject. She will release her debut full-length album Open Book on September 27. The song, “Lullaby” was written by Shorr with Robyn Collins and Will Stone, co-produced with Skip Black and is available here along with the video.
Refinery29 revealed that Shorr’s “Lullaby” video found “visual inspiration in a 90’s photoshoot for Hole, and skateboarding with her girlfriends.” Says Shorr, “the song is pretty serious, so it’s nice to have fun shooting the video for it because it was emotional. I was with friends who knew the story of the breakup that inspired the song [and] I think the metaphor of putting it to bed translated into the song and [the music video] is representative of that.”
“Kalie Shorr is leading the women of Nashville in the fight against their second-class status at country radio.” – Courtney Smith, Refinery29
Further, Shorr’s new song continues to garner high praise from critics throughout the country music community:
“Kalie Shorr has gone full Liz Phair with her new single, ‘Lullaby.’ The hurt, the anger and the slow-growing comfort with electric guitar come together for this pop-rock inspired country power anthem.” – Billy Dukes, Taste of Country
“Kalie Shorr’s new single ‘Lullaby’ could have been a song on Alanis Morissette’s classic 1995 album Jagged Little Pill if the Canadian-born rock artist had instead found her way to Nashville.” – Angela Stefano, The Boot
Shorr’s debut full-length LP, Open Book, is available to pre-save on Spotify now here. She will make numerous appearances in the coming month including the Grand Ole Opry on September 28, the YWCA SHIFT Conference and with select dates opening for LeAnn Rimes, including September 8 in Prescott, Ariz.
