Lady Gaga Is Back At Radio And Make No Mistake About It
Lady Gaga is back at radio and make no mistake about it. The powerhouse superstar has just released “Perfect Illusion” (Interscope) to rave reviews. The amount of new adds for this one out of the box tell us all we need to know about just how big this single is set to be. Watch for some monster weeks ahead for this fresh new masterpiece. Nick Jonas has teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign for some magic at the format. “Bacon” (Safehouse/Island) is the jam that we are talking about and radio is all over this one big time.
Newcomer Jon Bellion has a good thing going and make no mistake about that. His new “All Time Low” (Capitol) has been the bright spot for new artists and may help him when it comes to Grammy time for new breaking artists. The Meghan Trainor pairing with Yo Gotti has turned out to be really something. “Better” (Epic) shows some strong edge and power that could put this one at the top of the charts in record time. I also really love the new one from DJ Snake and Justin Bieber. These guys have been taking the single “Let Me Love You” (Interscope) out for a spin and every time I hear it the jam sounds amazing.
The young and ever so talented Alessia Cara is winning fans at radio in a very big way. “Scars To Your Beautiful” (EP Entertainment/Def Jam/UMG) is an example of pure vocal talent. I recently saw her on a local television show and I must admit that I am very impressed by her demeanor. Those crazy X Ambassadors are back at it and looking for more. “Unsteady” (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope) is the track that is helping to build their stock ever so high in the music industry. They are one of the best bands at radio.
Tinie Tempah and Zara Larsson have gotten together and this team may have a winner. “Girl Like” (Parlophone) has fast become a real favorite among our music and program directors and for good reason, it’s excellent. Watch for big weeks ahead for this gem. I’m also happy to report that new indie artist Gina Cutillo is racing at full speed at Top40 and at the AC 40 for her debut “Keep On”. Her original songs are all over commercials and with the event of this fast breaking single, more good things are sure to come.
The Color Canvas is another Indie act to pay special attention to. “Love Your Life” (Ind) is such a good track that if you are not on it then what are you waiting for? Autumn Zero is taking the single “Take Me Back” (Winter) out for a spin and for good reason. Give that one special attention. Jimmy White is back with a gem that everyone seems to love. “Miserable Man” (828) is the cut and this one really shows Jimmy’s growth as a recording artist. It’s also killing on the AC40 so he has a solid crossover smash on his hands.
Dominic Francesco is getting raves for the single “Tonight’s The Night” (Winter) so you may need to take another look at this one. Russell Watson can do no wrong as the track “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough” moves past the crowded field. Azarelle is taking “Come Alive” (Demo Entertainment Group) to newer heights and why not.
Newcomer Dru Ross is having an amazing run at the format. His debut single “Love Simulation” (Ross Records) started here on the charts and pages of New Music Weekly and is now breaking on the Mediabase & Billboard radio charts. Ariana Grande continues winning ways as “Into You” (Republic/Universal) breaks free. Lukas Graham has a follow-up that is better than his first. “Mama Said” (WB/WEA) is really popping and could be his next number one single for sure.
Shawn Mendes is on fire once again with “Treat You Better” (Island). Newcomer Renee Zawawi is taking her new “Happy Hour” (PSP) single to the top of the charts and this one is strong indeed. Chuck Murphy has a solid winner with “Cow Girls” (One West) and make no mistake about that. John Ratliff and his band Receptacle are moving to the top with their strong “Oh My” offering. This is our big Spring Music Preview so we wish all of these great artists a solid run during this amazing and cool time of year. I’ll have more for you on the best Top40 songs breaking across the USA next time right here.
