Bay Country Radiothon Raises Over $176,000 for St. Jude
Bay Country, the Bay Area’s sole Country outlet, airing on KBAY (94.5) and KKDV (92.1) in San Jose, raised an impressive $176,483 during its third annual Radiothon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Held on December 5 and 6, the two-day event highlighted the station’s commitment to supporting groundbreaking research and lifesaving treatments for childhood cancer and other serious diseases.
Market Manager David Drutz expressed pride in the station’s listeners and partners. “This was Bay Country’s 3rd St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Radiothon and in many ways can be considered our most successful to date,” Drutz said. “We are incredibly grateful to have a loyal audience that passionately supports St. Jude’s mission to defeat childhood cancer. I also want to thank our partners, Habbas & Associates and Meriwest Credit Union, for their contributions. We look forward to the day when events like this are no longer needed.”
St. Jude’s efforts to combat pediatric cancer are supported by partnerships like Bay Country’s Radiothon. The funds raised contribute to the hospital’s ambitious $12.9 billion, six-year strategic plan to enhance global cancer care. St. Jude recently partnered with the World Health Organization to provide free, high-quality chemotherapy medicines to children worldwide.
A hallmark of St. Jude’s model is ensuring that families never receive bills for treatment, travel, housing, or food, allowing them to focus entirely on their child’s care. Events such as the Radiothon help sustain this approach and advance critical research and treatment.
Listeners are encouraged to continue supporting the Music Gives for St. Jude Kids program to further St. Jude’s mission to improve survival rates and care for children globally.
