A long-standing Halloween tradition is set to return as WZPL (99.5 ZPL) in Indianapolis’ “Smiley Morning Show” hosts the 22nd Annual Smiley Pumpkin Drop at The Shops at Perry Crossing in Plainfield. The event will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 6-10am, featuring a live broadcast and a nearly 1,000-pound pumpkin drop from hundreds of feet in the air.

As one of Indianapolis’ most anticipated Halloween events, the Smiley Pumpkin Drop will feature two massive pumpkins — a 1,000-pound and an 800-pound pumpkin — being hoisted into the sky by crane and dropped onto the concrete below. The live broadcast will capture the dramatic moment at sunrise.

The free, family-friendly event will include a wide array of activities for attendees of all ages. Children are encouraged to come in costume for trick-or-treating and enjoy Halloween-themed bounce houses, games, balloon animals, and more. The Circle City Ghostbusters will make a special appearance, adding to the spooky festivities.

Local vendors such as Magnolia Cafe will provide food and hot beverages, with the Marian University Cheer Team serving coffee and Hometown Mini-Donuts on-site. Attendees can also catch Silly Safaris from 8-10am and Balloon Twisters will be on hand to keep the fun going throughout the event.
