The Neon Trees Are Back At The Format
The Neon Trees are back at the format with one of their best to date. “Sleeping With A Friend” (Mercury) is fast becoming a solid favorite among our stations and their programmers. Also making some big waves is the latest from Christina Perri. The track “Human” (Atlantic/WEA) is one of her best and we should see some amazing things in the weeks to come to be sure. Pharrell has to be one “happy” guy these days. We first met him years ago at the American Music Awards when he was shadowing Snoop Dogg all over the place. His networking has paid off and his current “Happy” (Universal/UMG) is fast become a radio anthem. Good things come to those who network. Miley Cyrus is back in the headlines and radio seems to be welcoming her with open arms. “Adore You” (RCA/RLG) is her latest and although it’s not as hot as the last track, it appears to be well on its way. Asia is back at radio and it’s about time. “Valkyrie” (Frontiers) is the cut that they are taking out and our music and program directors from coast to coast are giving it a big thumbs-up.
OAR is such a solid act so it’s with great pleasure that we announce that “Peace” (Vanguard) is fast becoming a radio hit. The American Authors are becoming everybody’s new favorite band. Their debut single “Best Day Of My Life” (Island) has become a solid anthem at radio and for good reason – it’s that good. Neighbourhood is an act that you should be made aware of. Some of our programmers are jumping all over the single “Afraid” (Sony) so you might want to spend a little time with this one. Daughtry is still rocking strong at radio and that makes the American Idol family quit happy. His “Waiting For Superman” (RCA/RLG) is actually one of his best so far and should keep him in the money for this year. John Legend is always an AC favorite and he does not disappoint as his “All Of Me” (Columbia/ Sony) takes flight. Watch for some great weeks ahead for this gem. Don Henley has teamed up with Blind Pilot for a new single that is getting quite a bounce. Many out there are raving about “These Days” (Music Road) & to have Don back on radio is always a good thing. One Direction continues to bask in the glory of one of their best singles to date in “Story Of My Life” (Columbia/ Sony).
I really like the new single from the Los Lonely Boys. They are back at radio with the new “Don’t Walk Away” (Playing In Traffic) and this one will do well with your time and attention. British alto sax player turned recording artist Ed Barker has teamed up with vocalist Lance Ellington for a real gem of a song. “When You Smile” (EBR) is about as good as it gets and it’s your perfect Spring into Summer offering. Newcomer Francis Bowie has a good thing going and make no mistake about it. The single “Number One” (dGenerate) is “on fire” and moving up at record speed. We’ll see how it all plays out for him in the weeks to come but so far so very good. Cole Phoenix is “on the move” with his stellar “UFO” that just keeps building each and every week. The band Amen Alibi is rocking strong with their debut single entitled “Break Down & Cry” (Ravaka). Marsha Jewell continues her winning ways as “Butterfly” (Jewell Lane) continues to amaze. She recently won AC Breakthrough Artist for our recent New Music Awards. Allen D is also holding that #1 position with his brilliant “You & The Night & The Music” and he just as he picked up “Best New AC Artist” for this year’s NMA Awards. Congrats to all of this year’s winners and nominees! I’ll have more for you on the greatest hits at AC Radio next time.
