The Band Perry A Off And Runnin’
The Band Perry are off and running with another radio hit. “Chainsaw” (Republic Nashville) is their latest and it’s another angry song with a formula that seems to really be working for this family act. We’ve been getting lots of raves regarding the band Swon Brothers. Their single “Later On” (Arista Nashville) is fast becoming a real favorite among our Country music and program directors. Expect some big weeks ahead for this new single to be sure. We’re also thrilled to see that Tracy Lawrence is back with a new single. “Lie” (LMG) is just another reason to put him back into rotation. We’ve met him a few times at past CRS events and he’s always been a real charming guy. Luke Bryan continues to work his magic at the format in so many ways. This week he takes the single “Play It Again” (Capitol Nashville) out for a spin and radio is going crazy for this one out of the box. Eric Paslay has most certainly made a name for himself and in record time. The track “Song About A Girl”(Capitol/EMI) is making some stellar moves on the charts and for good reason. David Nail is also becoming a real favorite at the format. Case in point might just be his offering of “Kiss You Tonight” (MCA Nashville). This one has all the right stuff to become his biggest chart mover to date. Miranda Lambert truly has one of her best singles to date out at Country radio. Everybody just loves “Automatic” (Columbia Nashville) and so do I. What a great song to add to her already huge list of hit singles. Big & Rich are back and that puts a smile on everybody’s face. “Look At You” (BSR) is their latest and greatest and we wish this solid duo the very best on this title. Brantley Gilbert is also becoming a winner at Country radio. Our music and program directors are giving a big “thumbs up” to him for his current release in the fun loving “Bottoms Up” (Valory Music/Universal). Rascal Flatts are back at it with yet another gem at radio. “Rewind” (Big Machine/Universal) is proving to be a great track for these hard working guys. I’m also happy to report that all is well with young and talented Hunter Hayes. He’s getting back on track with “Invisible” (Atlantic/WEA) and this one is a real charmer. Eric Church is still rocking strong and make no mistake about that. He’s on the move with “Give Me Back My Hometown” (EMI) and so far so very good on this one. Lady Antebellum can pop the champagne open and celebrate as “Compass” (Capitol Nashville) hits #1. They are so deserving of all the good things that seem to come their way. Justin Moore is making the most of his recent new found success. So much so that his latest single “Lettin’ The Night Roll” (Valory Music/Big Machine/Universal) seems to be pulling stronger numbers than his record label listings. Tim McGraw can do no wrong and just ask his wife. His latest track in “Lookin’ For That Girl” (Big Machine/Universal) finds the great one making all the right moves right into Las Vegas. The Chris Young single is pulling in some great numbers for his current “Who I Am With You” (RCA Nashville) and why not. Florida Georgia Line and their pal Luke Bryan are killing it out there with the funky and rocking “This Is How We Roll” (Republic Nashville). Keith Urban’s popularity from American Idol has helped make his current single “Cop Car” (Capitol Nashville) rise to the top of the Country charts. In that same fashion our good pal Blake Shelton is using his stint on The Voice to add fuel to his already red hot “Doin’ What She Likes” (WB/WEA). A special congrats to all of our New Music Award Country winners! Some artists of note include Dennis Ledbetter who is finding a spot on our Top50 for his current hit single “Bayou Self” (Mallory Records). Tobi Gordon and MacLear & Quinn from Meg Records also picked up awards for their efforts. You can view the entire list of NMA Winners on our website and in this very issue.
