Taylor Swift appears to be back on track after a few fumbles. She’s really hoping that with the release of the new “Delicate” (Big Machine/Universal) she can get back to having #1 singles. We’ll see how this all plays out but so far she’s doing better than expected. Also back with some rather impressive numbers is Shawn Mendes. His new and ever so powerful “In My Blood” (Island/UMG) is off like a rocket. Truly one of the best young male artists out at radio today, Shawn is showing a great many artists just how it’s done.
The pairing of Logic & Marshmello is turning out to be a very good thing indeed. Together they have put it all on the line as the new single “Everyday” (DefJam/UMG) takes flight. You may want to save a little room on your playlist for this new winner. Another multi-pairing that appears to be working big time is that of Halsey joined by the strong Big Sean & Stefflon Don. This powerhouse triple team is out with the smash hit “Alone” (Astralwerks/Capitol) and there’s every indication that this could be very huge.
The Chainsmokers are back at it and that is always a very good thing indeed. Many of our music and program directors are all over their new and magical “Everybody Hates Me” (Disruptor/Columbia) & you can bet that the numbers for this will turn out to be rather strong. Meghan Trainor is finally back at the format and it’s about time. After quite a long break she is taking the single “No Excuses” (Epic) out for a spin and so far it’s being met by some pretty stellar enthusiasm. Stay tuned on this one
Bazzi has a good thing going and make no mistake about that. “Mine” (APG/Atlantic) is the track that is blowing out the numbers and calls. This one you really need to pay attention to and I don’t wanna have to tell you twice. 5 Seconds Of Summer are actually one of the best new bands out at radio today. They prove it again and again as their new and ever so powerful “Want You Back” (Capitol) makes some rather bold and beautiful moves.
The pairing of Zedd with Maren Morris & Grey is pure magic. “The Middle” (Interscope) is fast becoming a solid pop anthem and the fact that Target has used it over a million times on their commercials, that really doesn’t hurt one bit. Kendrick Lamar “the great” and the ever popular (for the moment) Sza have a good thing going. Kendrick is on so many singles at radio that it’s really hard to keep track but for now the single to watch for includes the cut “All The Stars” (Top Dawg/Aftermath/Interscope) that is breaking fast.
Why Don’t We by the fab “Trust Fund Baby” (Atlantic) is off like a rocket. Take a little time on this one to be sure. I’m also really loving the new Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign called “Psycho” (Republic/Universal). This one has been building strong numbers and it’s now finally getting the attention that is so deserves. Also getting some well-deserved attention is the new and fabulous Camila Cabello with her best single to date in “Never Be The Same” (Syco Music/Epic). What a great song this is my friends.
The Weeknd & (have I mentioned) Kendrick Lamar are getting raves and praise for their new offering that is “Pray For Me” (Top Dawg/Aftermath/Interscope). This one has #1 written all over it but only time will tell as there are so many hot songs out there. Also getting some attention is the always fabulous Dua Lipa. Her new and ever so excellent IDGAF (WB/WEA) is so good that you can’t put it down.
The red hot new band Barley Station is breaking fast at both Top40 and on our AC40 charts. They are quite the strong act and watch for some very big and better things ahead for them as their debut single “Younger Summer Memories” (Barleyfields) moves past the rest. Jack & Jack also have a monster hit with “Beg” (Republic) that is oh so good.
