Spring For Top40
Jason Derulo has released one of his best singles to date at Top40 radio. “Want To Want Me” (Beluga Heights/WB) is the new one and our radio panel is all over this gem big time. Watch for some huge weeks ahead for this masterpiece and Jason will no doubt hit the Top5 in record time. You heard this prediction right here. The pairing of Zedd and the young and talented Selena Gomez continues to amaze. Radio just can’t seem to get enough of the single “I Want You To Know” (Interscope) & for very good reason. It’s an excellent duet that should see #1 status sooner than later.
The Weekend is on fire and make no mistake about that. “Earned It” (Universal Republic) is the jam that is getting raves out there and this one has all the makings of a very big record. I’m also really loving this new song by Who Is Fancy, “Goodbye” (Silent/Republic) is the track that seems to have come out of no-where. It’s a strong offering that will no doubt build a massive station base. Echosmith is one act that needs to be paid close attention to. This little family outfit from Studio City, CA is really making waves at the format and with their new single “Bright” (WB/WEA) this will no doubt help take them to an even higher level. Good talent always seems to find its way to the top.
Olly Murs and paired up with Travie McCoy for a solid winner. “Wrapped Up” (Syco/Columbia) is the jam that is grabbing the attention of many of our music and program directors. Look for some big weeks ahead for this one. The new dream team of Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney seems to be on fire at Top40. “Forty Five Seconds” (DefJam) a song that premiered on this year’s Grammy Awards has become a huge anthem and with this stellar line up – why not.
Kelly Clarkson has one of her best singles to date out and about. “Heartbeat Song” (RCA/RLG) is one song you just can’t get out of your head. The American Idol folks have to be grinning ear to ear that one of their own is back on top at radio. It can only help this year’s ratings as well. One Direction has also delivered one of their best track to date. “Night Changes” (Columbia) is an excellent song that has proved it’s had some rather strong staying power. It doesn’t hurt to have their fan base as well.
Many out there at radio may tend to overlook Andy Grammer but don’t be doing that. His new “Honey, I’m Good” (S Curve/EMI) is as good as anything out there right now. Give this one a shot and you will be glad you did. Taylor Swift just keeps rolling out the hits. She’s done it again as her new “Style” (Big Machine/Universal) single moves to the top of many of our station lists. She just keep getting richer,
Newcomers Mirage Box have been making quite a name for themselves at the format. “Juarez” (Growlyman Endeavors) is the track that is helping to make a name for themselves from “coast to coast”. The Hamiltons are also getting plenty of love from the format. “What Happened To You” (Soul Fire) is their strong debut and watch for some big things ahead for this outfit.
Sam Smith is rocking once again as “Lay Me Down” (Capitol) takes flight. Recording artist Brandy Moss Scott is having yet another strong run as her “Bye Bye Baby” (Heavenly Tunes) moves past the rest. Our favorite Crossover artist Bill Curreri has a good thing going with “Fade Away” (Ind) and make no mistake about that. Flaunt is also on the move with their brilliant “Have I Made My Point?” (Anticodon). Holiboiz featuring Yosef is also a chart breaker with “Take Me To Temple” (Studio). Check out the winners for this year’s New Music Awards and many of these artists will be on that list come next year. Let’s get this Spring Break Party started!
