Spiraling Through Space and Psyche: Remy Nova’s “Oh Deed (On Gummy Weed)” Takes Listeners On A Cosmic Trip

Alternative R&B with a psychedelic twist, Remy Nova, the artist name of Jeremy Little—releases his new single, “Oh Deed (On Gummy Weed),” a woozy, immersive trip through space, time, and the effects of one gummy too many. Combining wry storytelling with dreamy production, the track invites listeners to float in the ether and recall that one time they flew a little too close to the cannabis-infused sun.

Known for his emotionally resonant voice and sharp songwriting, Remy has had his music licensed over 10,000 times for film and television, with placements in Queer Eye, Fringe, Castle Rock, Shameless, and more. Now, with the release of his new single, “‘Oh Deed (On Gummy Weed), Remy tells a tale as old as time itself: man vs. edible. And here’s the spoiler,” he says, “the edible wins.”

Inspired by a harrowing personal experience, the track captures that moment when edible experimentation turns existential. After giving up Xanax to manage anxiety, Remy decided to try cannabis gummies before a rehearsal with a musical hero in Los Angeles. The result? A dissociative odyssey across the city that included an Uber from Hollywood to West L.A., multiple failed attempts to enter the correct gate code, and a cosmic sense of confusion that made walking through the right apartment door feel like a spiritual trial.

“It’s a cautionary tale—not so much about taking edibles, but rather about taking dosage advice from the dispensary guy, who I’m sure meant well. The good news is that they worked great,” Remy says. “The bad news is that I had to leave rehearsal before I even had a chance to sing with the band. Uber across town, punch in a gate code, find the correct apartment door—each task felt like climbing Everest in flip-flops.”

The song’s title was gifted to him in passing. “I told the story to my friend, blues singer Jake La Botz, and he said, ‘You gotta write a song called Oh Deed On Gummy Weed.’ I laughed and forgot it. Then about three years later, I was working on a beat and found myself chanting the title. The rest flowed from there.”

Remy wrote, produced, performed, and mixed every element of the song himself. It was then mastered by two-time Grammy-Award winning engineer Hans Dekline, whose work has amassed over 1.8 billion streams. Since 2005, Dekline has mastered thousands of songs and albums by artists including U2, Matt Nathanson, The Romantics, Steve Aoki, and many more.

Built around swirling synth textures and an echoing hook, “Oh Deed (On Gummy Weed)” creates a sonic landscape where genres collide to capture the moment when reality starts to melt. The track’s hypnotic energy mirrors Remy’s own intentions behind the music. “I would love for the audience to go on a journey with me—deep, deep down into the inner chambers of the mind,” he says. “I want them to feel like they’re flying through the ether untethered by physical laws.”

More than just a trippy anthem, the song taps into a universal experience—the moment when a gummy goes from fun to “what have I done?” “It should spark conversations with their friends about that one time when they took too much,” Remy adds. “Asking around, it seems like we’ve all had that one time.” With its blend of humor, heartfelt storytelling, and immersive sound, “Oh Deed (On Gummy Weed)” invites listeners to embrace the chaos and find connection in those unforgettable moments we’ve all experienced.
