Nico & Vinz Have One Of The Perfect Songs
Nico & Vinz have one of the perfect songs out that will no doubt become a Summer anthem. “Am I Wrong” (WB/ WEA) is brilliant and it only gets better with each listen. I’m not sure where they came from at this point but they might be looking at their first #1 single. One of my favorite bands in Capital Cities is back at it at multi-formats. “One Minute More” (Capitol/EMI) is just another reason to like the exceptional outfit. Their debut single “Safe and Sound” put them on the map and this single should and will continue to build their already hot stock. American Authors keep rolling out the hits. Their latest entry in “Believer” (IDJMG) is quite strong and will no doubt take them out of the “one hit wonder” category. We’ll see how it all plays out in the weeks to come for them. Coldplay is back and make no mistake about that. Their new “A Sky Full Of Stars” (Atlantic/WEA) is getting raves at radio and for good reason , it’s just that good. Make sure to check out the video for this song that is really quite something. It’s great to have them back at radio where they belong. There is no better artist for the AC format than Jason Mraz. He’s back at it with yet another brilliant offering in “Love Someone” (Atlantic/WEA). He is super talented and all of his songs are quite magical. Expect a fast ride up the charts for Jason and his latest work of art. Maroon 5 has yet another hit on their hands and it might just be their best to date. The single “Maps” (222/Interscope) has an amazing sound that is not only taking the AC format by storm but Top40 is also all over this one big time.
Recording artist Sam Smith seems to have come from out of nowhere to be just about everywhere. His “Stay With Me” (Capitol/EMI) is fast becoming a pop anthem and to top that off he also has a hit single singing alongside Disclosure. If all things keep going as they seem to be, this will be the Summer that radio crowned a new sensation in Sam Smith. Brandy Moss Scott has released her own rendition of the classic Elton John song “Benny & The Jets” (Heavenly Tunes) and radio is really loving this version big time. She put her own unique urban spin on it and it seems to be working. Watch for some big weeks ahead for this gem. The Florida Georgia Line has teamed up with Jason Derulo for a rendition of their “This Is How We Roll” (Republic Nashville), You may recall that they teamed up with Nelly for their first big hit single so why not try a pop pairing all over again. We’ll see how this all pans out but so far it seems to be working just fine. One Republic keeps their streak alive and well as they roll out another smash. The single “Love Runs Out” (Interscope) is their latest and greatest and what a cool track this is. It’s pulling in top phones with every spin and for good reason. I’m also happy to see that the talented Andy Grammer is back at AC radio. His latest single “Back Home” (S Curve/EMI) continues to showcase just how really brilliant he is.
Marsha Jewell is back on top with yet another amazing single. Her latest in “Tomorrow” (Jewell Lane) a song inspired by the passing of her husband Don is really quite a masterpiece. She continues to amaze us and for good reason. Expect some big weeks ahead for this gem. Lorde continues to rock our world and this time out she takes “Tennis Court” (Lava/Republic) for a spin to rave reviews. Giulia Nahmany is breaking big time with her Summer hit in “Girl To Change Your World” (Goldline) and make no mistake about that. The Naked Cowgirl is breaking fast and furious with her “I Love Nick” inspired by her performance on America’s Got Talent” and she could go all the way. Benzo is rocking strong with his amazing “Heartbeat” (New Terra) that has held the #1 spot on our AC Indie Chart for weeks now. I’ll have more for you next time right here – hit the beach!
