Mammal Talk Delivers a Stirring Message of Hope and Solidarity with New Single “Ether”

Mammal Talk returns with their latest single, “Ether,” a reflective track that explores themes of sadness and hope while maintaining the band’s quintessential blend of funky R&B and live instrumentation. The song offers a deeply empathetic take on the complexities of modern life, inviting listeners to embrace vulnerability as a path to empowerment. “Ether” is now available to stream and download on all major platforms.

“Ether” brings Mammal Talk’s signature sound through an introspective space. With hauntingly beautiful vocals and immersive instrumentation, the track captures feelings of hopelessness and frustration that resonate universally. The inspiration for the song lies in “a place for anger and frustration towards the establishment, the oligarchs, the bad faith actors in our political class,” explained by the band and M. Legere, who worked together to write the lyrics for the single. “Songs like these aren’t written to bring us down or to make us sad,” they explain. “They give us a chance to look inward.” “Ether” acknowledges the weight of the outside world while reminding listeners that hope and resilience remain within reach. The first step is acknowledging the problem, as it allows us to use our collective strength to challenge the powerful people who are so careless with our shared human experience. “Ether” is a sad song, but there is still hope in it. The hope lies in the solidarity of knowing that you aren’t experiencing these feelings and emotions alone. The track’s production was a collaborative effort recorded at Wright Way Studios, with Steve Wright (Future Islands, Beach House, Sun Club) as the recording engineer. Matt Chase (guitar and ukelele,) Mike Saunders (bass, piano, and synthesizers,) and Cory Baker (drums,) all handled production, while Tony Eichler mastered the track. The composition also features Shea Winpigler on vocals, Amy Shook on strings, Theljon Allen on trumpet, and Evan Cooper on keys.

Mammal Talk is a band of best friends from Baltimore, Maryland, who are multi-instrumentalists and producers with a pure passion for writing, performing, and creating music. Drawing inspiration from funk, pop, and R&B, Mammal Talk incorporates live instrumentation – strings, horns, and vocalists – alongside modern electronic elements. Having performed with national and international acts across several genres, they united to bring their unique sound to music lovers. Mammal Talk features guitarist Matt Chase, multi-instrumentalist Cory Baker, and producer Mike Saunders, all contributing their vast experiences and talents to create an innovative yet familiar sound that captivates listeners everywhere. Their debut single, “Funk Town,” garnered praise from outlets like IGGY Magazine, Melodic.net, and Drop The Spotlight.

“Ether” underscores Mammal Talk’s commitment to fostering meaningful conversations through music. It’s a song about connection – a reminder that no one is truly alone. Listeners can stream and download  “Ether” on all major platforms, and follow Mammal Talk on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube @MammalTalk to stay connected to their journey.
