featured lyrics too dirty to play for radio but relentless touring and a gift for self-promotion earned Kid Rock a cult following. In 1998, Kid Rock’s sixth album Devil Without A Cause sold 11 million copies behind the single Bawitdaba. He was able to keep the momentum after a slow start on 2001’s Cocky, thanks in large part to the crossover country ballad Picture, which featured Sheryl Crow. Kid Rock’s personal life has overshadowed his career at times. He began dating actress Pamela Anderson in 2001. They became engaged in April of 2002, ended their relationship in 2003, then reunited and married in July of 2006. Four months later both he and Anderson filed for divorce. In October 2007, Kid Rock was arrested after a brawl outside a Waffle House in Atlanta. Authorities said a male customer recognized a woman in Rock’s entourage and exchanged words with her, which escalated into an argument and then a fight in the parking lot. Rock and his entourage had stopped at the restaurant after a performance. Rock and five members of his entourage were taken into custody on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery. Kid Rock is now crossing over to the Country formats and with his new wave of music they will be rocking to his new sound “all summer long”.
