Kenny Chesney Waited Until Summer Was In Full Bloom
Kenny Chesney waited until Summer was in full bloom to pull his “American Kids” (Blue Chair/Columbia Nashville) out there. It’s such a surprise hit from Kenny who hasn’t had much out as of late and the response to this cleaver track is overwhelming. Look for a fast more to the top of the charts from Kenny Chesney. Rascal Flatts are fighting the good fight and are getting plenty of help from our panel of music and program directors for their newly released “Payback” (Big Machine/Universal). The fast and early rotations on this one are a true indicator that this is a very “active” single. Keith Urban is back at it with another smash. “Somewhere In My Car” (Capitol Nashville) the follow-up to “Cop Car” is taking off by leaps and bounds. Keith must have a thing for cars. Kip Moore has got a good thing and make no mistake about that. His new “Dirt Road” (MCA Nashville) as been pulling in some rather strong “most added” action and this single is well on its way. I’m so happy to see that Dolly Parton is back at Country radio. Her new single “Home” (Sony Masterworks) is getting raves from music critics and station programmers. We’ll see how it all plays out for Dolly in the weeks to come and we wish her the best with this great new song. Hunter Hayes is fast becoming everybody’s favorite young artist. He’s adding to his already strong stock with the track “Tattoo” (Atlantic Nashville). Many are calling him the most multi-talented musician/artists around and we have to agree with that. Luke Bryan keeps his endless streak of hits alive and well and why not. “Roller Coaster” (Capitol Nashville) is his latest and with the following that he’s building anything can happen for this monster talent. Travis Tritt is getting raves for his latest. “What Dreamers Do” (Post Oak) is pulling in impressive calls every time it gets a spin and according to our panel this song could become a very big one for the always amazing and powerful Travis Tritt. Tracy Lawrence is back at it with a song everybody seems to love. “Lie” (LMG) is the one that’s putting him back on the top of many charts where he belongs. We wish this super great guy the very best on this single. Faron Young is causing quite the stir. It’s all due to the song “You Don’t Know Me” (Country Rewind/Pretty World) that is pulling in fast and furious numbers. I’m also thrilled to see a new Willie Nelson out there at Country radio. “The Wall” (Legacy/RCA) is the latest from one of the greatest and we’ll see how it all plays out for Willie in the weeks to come but so far it’s looking real good for him. Lady Antebellum keeps the heat on just about every one as their new “Bartender” (Capitol Nashville) single explodes. The Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood pairing has turned into gold. Together they make beautiful music in “Somethin’ Bad” (RCA Nashville) and radio just loves it. Sam Hunt is fast becoming a Country star. His “Leave The Night On” (MCA Nashville) seems to be showing up on everybody’s list and for good reason, it’s just that good. Rick Monroe is back at radio and that could be a good thing. His new “Fire’s Out” (MRG) keeps getting attention so you may want to spend some time with this one to be sure. Dierks Bentley keeps getting lots of attention for his “Drunk On A Plane” (Capitol Nashville) but another track is also surfacing so we have to wonder what the label is up to at this point. Cerrito is getting some spin action at Country and for good reasons. His new “Manana” (Checo) is becoming the “one to watch” so don’t just watch it – add it. Hicks is also getting some stellar action at Country radio. Their new single “Hayride” (MTS) is pulling in some fast add action and is an indicator that something good is going on here. I hope you all enjoy our Summer Special and that you have the best Summer ever.
