Justin Timberlake Has Been The One To Beat
Justin Timberlake has been the one to beat at the format as the first few singles from his new album have all been extremely successful. His new “Take Back The Night” (RCA/RLG) is no exception as this single could be bigger than all of the previous ones. We’ll see how this all play out for him in the weeks to come. Kelly Clarkson continues to be the proud flagship for the American Idol franchise. She continues to build hit after hit and her latest track “People Like Us” (RCA/RLG) is keeping her stellar chart action alive and well. Karmin, one of the best kept secrets at Top40, has another winner on their hands. “Acapella”(Epic/Sony) is fast becoming a solid favorite among our program and music directors and for very good reason. Train’s teaming with Ashley Monroe is becoming a real contender. “Bruises” (Columbia/Sony) is the cut that is getting raves from radio and music critics alike. Another pairing that is taking off like a speeding bullet involves Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Together they make beautiful music in the single “Everything Has Changed” (Big Machine/Universal). I guess touring together has been a good thing, especially for Ed. Yet another duo to pay attention to can be found in MacLear & Quinn. Their single “Sweet Summer Days” (Meg) is on fire and watch for some big weeks ahead for this one. A couple of acts to pay attention to can be found in Emblem3 with their fast rising hit “Chloe” (Syco/Columbia) and Capital Cities who have a legit hit in “Safe And Sound”(Capitol/EMI). Getting back to duets and such, the pairing of Robin Thicke with Pharrell & TI has produced the biggest hit of the Summerin “Blurred Lines” (Star Trak/Interscope). Following close behind is Daft Punk who has teamed up with Pharrell Williams for the new anthem “Get Lucky” (Daft Life/Columbia). There is no better Top40 song on the radio this Summer than this jam. Some super ladies have arrived with some winners and why not start with Pink? Her new “True Love” (RCA/RLG) is another gem that will no doubt travel fast up the charts again in record time. Also moving fast is the amazing and multi-talented Sara Bareilles. She is the real deal and shows it in every way with her latest offering “Brave” (Epic/Sony). Both of these ladies are leading the charge for female Top40 hits and both really deserve your immediate attention as the summer heats up. Bruno Mars continues to rock strong as “Treasure” (Atlantic/ WEA) builds strong believers. Sean Kingston is also moving fast with his amazing “Beat It” (Epic/Sony). Pompeya, the Russiansensation band is moving to the tip of our charts with their debut hit single “YAHTBMF” (Noshame). Matt Backer is ever so close behind with his brilliant “Let’s Art” (Right Records). Ozicely is the band to watch as their debut single “UP2U” (Symphonic) breaks ever so fast. Marsha Jewell has a brilliant new singlein “You” (Jewell Lane) that deserves your immediate attention. Bill Songy has a solid new hit on his hands. “Dreamin’”(Franzia) has been picking up some amazing numbers and watch for big things to continue for him. Frank D`Angelo also has a huge hit on his hands thanks to the single “Dreamer” (B.K.C.I.) taken from the “Real Gangsters” Soundtrack. His good friend DeDe is also off to the races as her new “Blame It On The Summertime” (Diva Prince) takes flight. Alina Artts continues her winning ways with “Hit The Red Light”(R.E.C.).
