Jason Derulo Has Been Out Of There As A Secret Threat
Jason Derulo has been out there as a secret threat at Top40 and reveals just how strong he can be at the format. “The Other Side” (Beluga Heights/WB) brings much more attention to this major talent that is set for a very
strong year. If you want to also look at a strong and powerful player you don’t have to look any further than Justin Timberlake. His new project is set to break records as he takes “Mirrors” (RCA/RLG) to radio. This was the single that his label had high hopes for and so far it is doing just what they had hoped. One red hot act at radio these days is Florida Georgia Line. They made the bold move of joining forces with none other than Nelly and that is helping to take the “Cruise Remix” (Republic Nashville) to greater heights. These guys may actually be on to something. No one has built a stronger fan base at the format than Selena Gomez. This pretty young thing is back with the single “Come & Get It” (Hollywood). It’s exploding everywhere and you can expect some stellar weeks ahead for this track. Ed Sheeran is keeping his hopes and dreams alive that he will not be a “one hit wonder”. His current release in “Lego House” (Asylum/WB) is helping to prove some of the early critics wrong. Imagine Dragons is fast becoming one of the best new bands around. They already have a second major hit single in the works entitled “Radioactive” (Interscope) that is breaking fast. Chris Brown is pulling in some rather impressive numbers for his current single. “Fine China” (RCA/RLG) is actually not a bad record and it could be the surprise of the season. There is no surprise however on just how hot the current Pink single is. “Just Give Me A Reason” (RCA/RLG) has to be her best song to date and this one has #1 written all over it. Taylor Swift is hoping to get another number one hit for the record book. She may have to pull out all the stops as taking her latest “22” (Big Machine/Universal) to the top might be a real rough task. We’ll know all about that very soon.
Newcomer Dan Exactly is making all the right moves. He proves it in every way as his debut single “Two Left Feet” (Wooden Jazz) pulls in three weeks of “most added” action and is now set and ready for some bold chart
moves. Kat Dahlia is really impressing many of our music and program directors. The single “Gangsta” (Epic/Sony) has something special going on and could break past the rest in record time. Demi Lovato has got a hit on her hands and make no mistake about that. It didn’t take very long for her current track “Heart Attack” (Hollywood) to make some huge strides. Scot Fink over at Hollywood records has been pulling out all the stops on this one and it shows. American Idol winner Phillip Phillips is keeping that family full of smiles and hope. His current track “Gone Gone Gone” (19/Interscope) is going, going, going to the top of the charts and in record time. It’s also getting some play on the television show in front of millions and that most certainly helps. Recording artist/rapper K Squeez is getting some impressive action at the format. “I Just Wanna” (Meticlous) is the one that is helping to put this young Detroit recording artist on the map and for good reason. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis along with Wanz keep pulling in the airplay. “Thrift Shop” is on the way to becoming a Top40 anthem. Cher Lloyd has been on the moves and the word is out. “With Ur Love” (Epic/Sony) is a smash hit that can’t be denied. Keep your eyes and ears on this gem in the weeks to come. Of Monsters And Men are getting raves once again from programmers and music directors. “Mountain Sound” (Universal Republic) is the one that is taking them to greater heights. 50 Cent is back to his old tricks. This time he joins Eminem & Adam Levine to add to the star power. Together this dynamic trio takes the song “My Life” Shady/ Aftermath/Interscope) out for a drive. The fabulous Goo Goo Dolls have a hit with “Rebel Beat” (WB/WEA) and good for them. I’ll have more hits than you can shake a stick at right here next time. Jump on the new Future Hits and you’ll be glad you did.
