Island 106 Flips to ”105.9 The Wave” in Panama City
JVC Broadcasting has extended its “The Wave” brand across the Florida Panhandle flipping CHR WILN-FM (Island 106) to “105.9 The Wave” in Panama City. The move follows the success of 102.1 The Wave in Fort Walton Beach. The new station features a playlist spanning the ’70s through the 2000s. While both stations share the same personality and variety hits, 105.9 The Wave will not be a direct simulcast.
“We’re thrilled to bring true local programming back to Panama City,” said John Caracciolo, CEO of JVC Broadcasting. “While others are cutting staff and consolidating studios, we’re doing the opposite – hiring local talent, investing in communities, and proving that local radio is still the heartbeat of every great town along the Gulf Coast.”
Matt Stone, JVC’s Director of Programming for Florida, described The Wave as “unpredictable, fun, and like someone’s awesome personal playlist – not a corporate algorithm.”
Market Manager John Griffo added that The Wave will also emphasize community connections, focusing on local advertisers rather than long blocks of national commercials. “We’re bringing energy back to radio in Panama City,” he said.
