Imagine Dragons Is One Of The Most Exciting Bands
Imagine Dragons is one of the most exciting bands to come around in quite some time. It’s no surprise to see that their latest single “Demons” (Interscope) is already fast becoming a solid favorite among our stations. Bruno Mars keeps his story quite consistent as he continues to build his good fortune. “Gorilla” (Atlantic/WEA) is his latest and this track is building a list of solid believers from our panel. Britney Spears, fresh off her Las Vegas booking, is making her move and in a very big way. “Work Bitch” (RCA/RLG) is the loving title of her new single. It’s getting lots of approval among our music and program directors. Many feel that she’s on the right track and after hearing it a few times I have to agree. We’ll see how it all plays out for her in the coming weeks. Daughtry is back at radio and that’s always a good thing. “Waiting For Superman” (RCA/RLG) is his latest. We only hope that radio will support him as they did before. This can be a very fickle business and you never know, especially coming off a long absence. We’ve been getting some strong words regarding Yuna. The single “Rescue” (Verve) is starting to appear on many of our programmers playlists, a sign that there is something going on here for sure. Also getting quite the buzz is Avicii. The single “Wake Me Up” (Pm:Am/Universal) is quite different and infections.
Every time I hear it I say, who is this?” and now I finally can identify the new mystery artist. Even though summer is over that isn’t stopping Lana Del Rey. She and her label are still continuing to work “Summertime Sadness” (Interscope) and why not. Let’s see if she has anything to back this one up. Only time will tell. New Indie favorites Laird Oli have a good thing going and make no mistake about that. “Ay Yi Yi” (Puremusix) is the track that many of you are loving and for good reason. Last week it actually ranked #1 “most added” at the AC format so that should tell you something right there. Forever is also getting quite a lot of attention at the format. “Take Me Home” (SF) is the single that is making it all happen for them. It might be worth your time and a few spins. Los Lonely Boys are back and it’s about time. “Blame It On Love” (Universal Republic) Is their latest and it reminds us on just why we like this outfit so much. Recording artist Frank D`Angelo is back at the AC format with a real gem. “Break It Down” (BKCI) is one of this best singles to date and the numbers continue to show it. Dream Logic has also been making quite the name for themselves. “Emoco” (Chaos Music Company) is the single that is getting raves from many of our program and music directors. Lawrence Preston also has a solid winner on his hands. “Something For You” (Gemstone) is the one that’s getting all the attention. We’ll see how it all plays out for him . Everybody is still loving the new band Capital Cities.
I just caught them on the Ellen Show the other day where they performed an extended version of their hit single “Safe And Sound” (Capitol/EMI). Any band that can bring back the trumpet to radio is alright by me. We’re also still loving the new Sara Bareilles. Her current single “Brave” (Epic/Sony) might have been the model for the new Katy Perry “Roar” but let’s not forget who got their single out there first. Jason Derulo continues to get spins and attention at the AC format. “The Other Side” (Beluga Heights/WB) is the one that his helping him cross formats. Matt Gonzo Roehr has a new single “Dreamer” (Gonzo) that is out of this world. Check out this week’s stat’s if you don’t believe me. Allen D continues to build his story as “In The Still of the Night” (New Tara) moves forward. Alina Artts is ever so close to the #1 spot with her “Hit The Red Light” (R.E.C.). Bill Songy is almost there with his stellar “Dreamin’”. “You” from Marsha Jewell (Jewell Lane) continues to march it’s way to #1. I’ll have more for you next time on the best of AC right here my good friends.
