iHM, Dream Center Raise Over $15M for Wildfire Disaster
iIn the immediate aftermath of the devastating wildfires that swept through Los Angeles, iHeart LA teamed up with the Dream Center to launch a substantial aid initiative that has quickly evolved into one of the largest grassroots giving campaigns in the organization’s history.
The campaign, initiated just hours after the fires began, leveraged both national and local media resources to appeal for essential goods and financial donations. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with the community’s spirit of generosity shining through during this critical time.
As of Tuesday, January 7, the initiative has seen significant contributions:
- Over 8,000 volunteers have stepped forward to assist with the efforts.
- The Dream Center has distributed essential supplies to more than 80,000 individuals, including food, water, clothing, and diapers.
- Approximately 19,000 vehicles have been processed through the Dream Center’s supply distribution line.
- The campaign has successfully raised over $15 million in cash and in-kind donations, with more still coming in.
Paul Corvino, Division President for iHeart LA, expressed his admiration for the community’s response: “The strength, generosity, and resiliency of our LA communities is truly powerful. It’s incredibly humbling to see how our broadcast radio listeners have rallied to support each other. While iHeart and the Dream Center played roles in facilitating this connection, it’s the community itself that has been the driving force behind this inspiring effort.”
Matthew Barnett, Founder of the Dream Center, also commented on the community’s overwhelming support: “The outpouring of love and generosity we have witnessed in response to this crisis has been extraordinary. In times of disaster, the strength of our community shines the brightest. We are humbled to see so many individuals stepping up to help their neighbors in need. Thanks to our partnership with iHeartMedia Los Angeles and the unwavering support of our volunteers, donors, and community members, we have been able to provide essential aid to thousands who have lost so much.”
