Demi Lovato Has Become Quite The “Go To Girl” At Top40
Demi Lovato has become quite the “go to girl” at Top40 radio. She keeps the radio believers alive and well with “Heart Attack” (Hollywood). It’s another gem from Hollywood Records brightest star. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have a solid #1 single on their hands. “Thrift Shop” took a while to materialize, but the patience has paid off and to great dividends. Cher Lloyd is one red hot recording artist and make no mistake about that. She shines bright in “With Ur Love” (Epic/Sony). Many of our music and program directors are all over this one “big time”. One of the best new acts to come around in quite some time has to be Of Monsters And Men. This band has got a very unique sound and if you don’t believe me just listen to their latest single “Mountain Sound” (Universal Republic). 50 Cent knows how to make friends and keep the hits going. This time out he’s enlisted the likes of Eminem & Adam Levine so his team is stellar. Together this dynamic trio is taking the song “My Life” (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) out for a spin so look out. The fabulous Goo Goo Dolls are back at the format. Their new “Rebel Beat” (WB/WEA) is a tasty track that gives our pals a modern sound to be sure. We’ll see how it all plays out in the weeks to come. One Republic continues to amaze radio with their brilliance. Case in point may just be found the single “If I Lose Myself” (Interscope). It’s the act at their best and you can’t do any better than that. Muse is on course to become the best band of the decade. They have a huge following and it’s getting even stronger thanks in part to their latest hit single that is “Madness” (WB/WEA). Newcomer Tracy Randall is getting lots of love at the format and for good reason. “I Am All You Need” (Lavish) is the gem that many of our music and program directors just love. Please remember that you heard about her first right here on the pages of New Music Weekly. Rihanna is back with a ballad that is stellar. You can’t help but fall all over the single “Stay” (DefJam/IDJMG) which has to be a huge leap forward for this major recording icon. Young and bubbly Carly Rae Jepsen is keeping the fires alive for her solid recording career. She proves it well with “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” (School Boy/Interscope) and it’s another gem from this rising star. Newcomer K-Squeez is building a huge story at the format. His stellar debut single “I Just Wanna” (Meticulous Records) is the “one to watch”. One Direction can no longer be a “one hit wonder” thanks in part to the success of their new “Kiss You” (Syco/Columbia) single. Lupe Fiasco teamed up with Guy Sebastian and good things continue to happen for them. The single “Battle Scars” (Atlantic/WEA) continues to get raves and lots of spins across the USA. The new act Red Sky is also building a large fan base. The debut single entitled “Chevrolet Deluxe” (RMS) has had an amazing run so far and many believe that “the best is yet to come. Rachel Farris has a good thing and make no mistake about that. The single “Stick Your Tongue In My Mouth” has our panel of stations “going crazy” and this story is building as fast as it can for a newcomer. Nelly is back is getting raves all over the planet. His new “Hey Porsche” (Republic) is one solid winner and we’re so happy for him. Calvin Harris, the super DJ turned songwriter/producer, continues to “rule the world” and can now add a hit single with the amazing Florence Welch. Together they make beautiful music with “Sweet Nothing” (Columbia/Sony). Michael Damian has had an amazing run with his powerful “Rock My Heart” (Weir Brothers). Kesha continues to amaze with “C’mon” (RCA). Bill Songy is rocking the format with his brilliant “Those Days Are Gone” (Franzia). Marsha Jewell is moving to the top spot with “Ragged Angel” (Jewell Lane). Tommy Roe and Melissa Hooker are close behind with “It’s For You I’m Me” (Airebelle Records). Matt Backer and Julian Lennon continue their winning ways with “All That You’ve Wanted” (Right Records).
