Country Summer Fun
Keith Urban is taking no break when it comes to Country radio especially during the summer months. “John Cougar, John Deere, John 316” (Hit Red/Capitol Nashville)
is his latest offering and our music and program directors are all over this one big time. What would a summer be without Jake Owen? I have to admit that his latest in “Real Life” (RCA Nashville) could not be a better single for this time of year. The lyric is just right and the production of this track screams big hit. You can expect some rather big weeks ahead for this gem and the song also could take the fast track all the way to #1.
Old Dominion are making the most out of their time on the Country charts. Radio just loves “Break Up With Him” (ReeSmack) and for good reason. This one is a must add if you’re not on it already. Billy Currington is also getting set for a bright and fun summertime. His “Drinking Town With A Football Problem” (Mercury Nashville) is another masterpiece for an artist that always seems to find the right song for the right time. You can bet that this one will fast track it’s way to becoming a Country anthem in record time.
Florida Georgia Line keep rolling out hit after hit. “Anything Goes” (Big Machine/Universal) is their latest and greatest and what a run these guys have had so far. I’m also happy to report that Luke Bryan is doing quite well again at the format. “Kick Up The Dust” (Capitol Nashville) is just another reason that radio loves this artist. Recording artist Ronny Collins is building some stock for a bright career. “Will I Make It Home” (Silver Buckle) is the latest for Ronny and this one might be worth spending some time on as I believe your listeners will be all over this gem.
Tyler Farr is doing just fine thank you very much, “Withdrawals” (Columbia Nashville) is his new one and you might want to power this one in heavy sooner than later. The pairing of Richard Lynch and Billy Yates has turned out to be a good thing. Together they make beautiful music with “She’s Got Me Drinkin’ Again” (Mod). Brothers Osborne is back at it and just in time. “Stay A Little Longer” (EMI Nashville) has to be one of their best yet and we wish them the best with this single as it’s worth your spins.
Miranda Lambert has teamed up with Little Big Town for a real perfect Summer song. “Smokin’ And Drinkin'” (RCA Nashville) puts two very red hot acts into a place that can only bring super good things. Billy Lord and Carly Jo Jackson are bringing the heat just in time as they take “Steal The Evening Sky” (Ind) out for a spin. Sarabeth also has a good thing going with the track “I’m Sick Of It” (Circle S). Jason Pritchett can do no wrong as the single “Good Show” (BDMG) pulls in a number of early believers. You also have to just love the new Randy Houser track. “We Went” (Stoney Creek) is the jam I’, talking about and it’s a real winner so take Randy to dinner.
Joey Canyon is back at the format and that’s always a very good thing. He also has a new CD out and about called “The Rhythm Of Livin’” that is oh so good. All eyes and ears however are focused in the first single from the CD entitled “He’s Comin’ Back Home To Her For good” (Glo Dot). The early stats on this single are really strong as you can see in this issue so it might be time to put one down for Joey Canyon. I hope to see him and all of you at the very next CMA festival. I know I had a great time once again and I know many of you did too. Now all ears and eyes are on Summer songs so let’s go out there and break some new hits and I’ll see you back here very soon.
