Colbie Caillat Is Back At The AC Format
Colbie Caillat is back at the AC format and that makes for some very good news. Her new single “Hold On” (Universal/UMG) is just what radio needs at this time. Colbie is an amazing talent and we’re so happy to have her back with such a great new track. Those fabulous Plain White T`s are back. Everybody is singing the praises of their latest offering entitled “Giving Tree” (Hollywood) and for good reason. One Direction has released one of their best yet. “Story Of My Life” (Columbia/Sony) was recently performed on the American Music Awards and on X Factor and this is a song that you just can’t get out of your head. We just hope that radio responds accordingly and gives this song a fair shot. Christina Perri has a monster hit on her hands. “Human” (Atlantic/ WEA) is the single that is getting raves from many of our music and program directors. She’s another gem of a talent and we’re thrilled to see she’s been given a fair chance at radio. Gavin DeGraw has a solid new single out at radio and make no mistake about that. “Make A Move” (RCA/RLG) finds him at his very best and the numbers are starting to look solid for this gem.
The band Passenger has really built quite the following in record time. Radio programmers are raving about their “Let Her Go” (Nettwerk) and this has set them up for some amazing things in the future. Imagine Dragons keep building by leaps and bounds and can’t be stopped at any measure. “Demons” (Interscope) is their latest smash and what a stellar band this outfit has become. Also keeping a streak of hits live and well is the great Katy Perry. Her latest single “Unconditionally” (Capitol) is yet another song that you just can’t get out of your head. You will no doubt see huge things ahead for this strong single. Jason Derulo keeps his hit list growing by leaps and bounds. He can now add the single “Marry Me” (Beluga Heights/WB) to his very healthy catalogue. It’s that time of year again my friends when Christmas music fills the air. No one is getting into the spirit more than Kelly Clarkson. Her new Holiday CD is a smash hit and songs like “Underneath The Tree” RCA/RLG) keep pulling in some rather impressive numbers. This will no doubt be a very merry Kelly Clarkson Christmas. Johnny Mathis has teamed up with the always cleaver and hustling Jim Brickman for another holiday gem. “Sending You A Little Christmas” (Columbia/Sony) is fast becoming a classic and with this team working together now, there are endless possibilities. Michael Rapp has made quite the splash this holiday season. His “Christmas Is For Kids” (Stage Too) is exploding at radio and many of our music and program directors are all over this song in a very big way. Allen D also has a gem that is getting rave reviews. His new “Christmas Song” (New Terra) that was actually recorded for a television special years ago is also becoming an instant classic. Move over “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” because Jesse & The Hogg Brothers are coming to get you. Their new “Don’t Mess With Christmas” (Black & Blue Music) is a holiday smash that is no doubt here to stay for years to come.
Formats from AC to Country are enjoying this brilliant piece so give it some spins. This is also our Best of 2013 so please take note on some exceptional artists. Matt Gonzo Roehr has a real gem on his hands with “Dreamer” (Gonzo) that deserves your attention. Marsha Jewell has had a banner year and her current single “You” recently hit #1 on our AC40 Indie chart. Allen D and his “In the Still of the Night” (New Terra) has made him an AC favorite and Frank D’Angelo has had a banner year with his “Break IT Down” (BKCI) also making the top of our Indie charts. I want to personally with all of my stations and artist the very best Merry Christmas and a super Happy Holiday.
