Petra Deeter, a celebrated filmmaker and painter, renowned for her vivid storytelling and evocative artistry, is now exploring a new artistic medium—music. Deeter proudly announces the release of her debut jazz album, Tango on a Wild & Rough Terrain, now available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, and YouTube.

An award-winning artist with a rich background in visual storytelling, Deeter brings her unique perspective and creative vision to this new venture. As the lyricist and co-composer of the album, Deeter’s transition from visual arts to music is a natural extension of her desire to communicate deep emotional narratives. The album features 11 soulful tracks that delve into themes of love, betrayal, resilience, and self-discovery, each piece a reflection of Deeter’s personal journey.

“Tango on a Wild & Rough Terrain” is a powerful testament to Deeter’s ability to translate her experiences into another form of art. The album’s rich soundscapes are brought to life through the performances of the band Practically A Goddess, with whom Deeter collaborated closely. While Deeter crafted the poignant lyrics and co-composed the music, Practically A Goddess delivers the emotional weight of the songs through expressive vocals, saxophone, and piano.

From the raw emotion of “The Matador’s Game,” to the haunting narrative of “Macau & the Broken White Rose,” the album unfolds a complex tapestry of life’s most intense experiences. Tracks like “Unbowed” and “Worth Her Salt” celebrate themes of strength and independence, while “Surrender” and “Illusion” explore the complexities of love and loss.

Deeter’s foray into music is not just a new chapter in her artistic journey, but a continuation of her lifelong mission to give voice to visceral, often unspoken emotions. Tango on a Wild & Rough Terrain stands as a testament to her versatility as an artist and her unwavering commitment to exploring the depths of the human experience.
