Audacy, Mystics Ink Partnership for Live Broadcasts
Audacy and the Washington Mystics ink a partnership to broadcast live Mystics games on WTEM-AM (The Team 980) in Washington, DC as WTEM becomes the new Mystics flagship station throughout the 2024 WNBA season. The broadcast schedule begins with the team’s game at Capital One Arena against the Chicago Sky on Thursday, June 6 at 7pm and will run through the conclusion of the regular season in the fall.
The broadcasts will feature a simulcast live audio feed from Monumental Sports Network’s (MNMT) television broadcast (including the halftime report) and fans will be able to hear all 25 of the Mystics’ remaining regular season games available on the network this season. While most radio broadcasts will air on The Team 980, select games will air on WJFK-FM (106.7 The Fan) and WJFK-AM (The Bet Washington) and all games will be streamed locally on the Audacy app.
“We are delighted to broaden our relationship with Audacy and continue to drive the fast-paced growth of women’s basketball in the DMV region,” said Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) President of Media & New Enterprises Zach Leonsis. “We have seen incredible television viewership for the Mystics during the first weeks of the season and we’re thrilled to offer our fans another way to tune into our games.”
The Mystics broadcast booth features University of Maryland Hall of Famer Christy Winters-Scott, who returns for her 15th season as television color analyst for the Mystics, and play-by-play announcer Meghan McPeak, who enters her sixth season with the team’s television broadcast.
“The Team 980 is where the DMV goes to talk basketball,” said Audacy Washington, DC Vice President of Sports Programming & Cluster Director of Operations Chris Kinard. “We are excited to bring an audio presentation of Mystics games to their growing fanbase on The Team 980 AM and available on mobile and smart speakers through the Audacy app.”
