AC Summer Breakers
Don Henley is back at the AC format and he’s always welcomed with open arms. His new “Take A Picture Of This” (Capitol) is one of the best tracks coming from him & we can see that radio is as excited about this one as we are. Expect some big things ahead for Don Henley on this great new release. The pairing of R City with Adam Levine has turned into quite a winning combination. “Locked Away” (Kemosabe/RCA) is the cut that many of our music and program directors just love and it’s no surprise to us. This is an excellent single that really deserves your special attention.
Sam Hunt has found a new home at mainstream radio. This Country star is getting raves at other formats for his “Take Your Time” (MCA Nashville) and that seems to be about right. The track is an excellent single and is getting the attention across formats that it so deserves. Selena Gomez has teamed up with Asap Rocky for a real summer gem. ”Good For You” (Interscope) is the single that we are talking about and this shows just how much Selena has grown as a recording artist in such a short time.
Rachel Platten has a good thing going and make no mistake about that. Her debut single “Fight Song” (Columbia) is fast becoming an anthem at AC radio and that’s seems quite appropriate considering just how many spins this young artist has under her belt so far. The multi talented trio of Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber has turned into a big time radio hit. “Where Are You Now” (OWSLA/Mad Decent/Atlantic) is the one that seems to be at the top of many radio programmers playlists.
U2 has a new single out at radio and that’s always a good thing. “Song For Someone” (Interscope) is the track that I’m talking about and it’s always a good thing to have this iconic band on radio in any format. The new team of David Guetta, Nicki Minaj & Afrojack has turned into a magical experience. “Hey Mama” (Parlophone/Atlantic) is so catchy that I can’t get it out of my head. Andrew McMahon In Wilderness is taking his “Cecilia And The Satellite” (Vanguard) to new heights and what a gem this song is.
Leon Bridges is getting lots of attention at the format thanks to his “Coming Home” (Columbia) single and give that one a few spins for sure. Bob Malone is making big moves with “Certain Distance” (Delta Moon). Recording artist Moe is also receiving raves for “Standing Ovation” (AP Music). The Belfuries are also doing quite well with “Loving Arms” (Moe And Sal). Bill Curreri has been having a stellar run and the format. His latest “With Lydia” (BCR) is a real favorite here among our programmers. Mirage Box is having an amazing run with their latest single. “Last Beautiful Woman” (Growlyman Endeavors). It has been on fire and you just have to check the back-page of this issue to find out a bit more about this amazing act from the Florida area. Flaunt has one of the best singles out to date. “National Anthem” (Anticodon) is becoming quite the summer anthem and for good reason – it’s an amazing track. Tom MacLear has a good thing going and make no mistake about that. His brilliant “Unapproachable” (Meg) is becoming one of the biggest summer hits and we’re so thrilled for him and his stellar team.
Royalush are back with a real gem. “Shot For America” (High School) is their latest and what a great track this is and radio agrees. Brandy Moss Scott has had a record setting week of #1 action for her “Bye, Bye Baby” and what a gem this single has turned out to be. Chuck Murphy and his new “How Many Times” (One West) is the record to watch for my friends. This artist is the “real deal”. All of the above deserve your immediate attention as they are true Chart-Breakers for 2015 so far, I’ll have more for you next time on the greatest hits at AC radio. Enjoy the rest for this amazing summer and I’ll see you for our Fall Music Preview.
