AC SUMMER BEST EVER
Mary Lambert is an immense talent and make no mistake about that. Her latest single “Secrets” (Capitol) displays why she is so worth the sudden attention she is receiving. It’s catchy and brilliant in every way and I hope this one takes off for her. So far she is off to a well-deserved stellar start. Christina Perri is another talent that deserves special attention. She’s a brilliant singer/songwriter and latest release “Burning Gold” (Atlantic/WEA) also deserves your immediate attention. Our favorite male AC artist in Jason Mraz is back to his winning ways. “Love Someone” (Atlantic/WEA) is his new single and it’s another gem from this super talented guy.
Clean Bandit has teamed up with Jess Glynne for what is fast becoming the real deal. “Rather Be” (Big Beat/RRP) is breaking at HotAC and Top40, an indicator of a real solid crossover smash. Meghan Trainor is building a huge buzz at the format and for good reason. Her “All About That Bass” (Epic/Sony) is crazy good and this one you can’t seem to get out of your head. Our music and program directors are all over this one big time. This young lady might just have a #1 single for her debut at radio and it’s deserving of any and all of the attention it’s getting from coast to coast.
Robert Plant is back and it’s about time. His “Rainbow” (East West) is lighting up the phones every time it gets a spin. Ryan Adams also has a song that might be worth your time and listening power. “Gimme Something Good” (Blue Note/EMC) is very catchy and for fans of this artist they are going to be very happy with the results. Counting Crows are back and what a thrill that is for all of us. “Scarecrow” (Capitol) is the new cut that is getting lots of play from our panel. Are you ready for Kooks? “Bad Habit” (Astralwerks/Virgin) is their jam and this one is worth the spins my friends.
Disclosure has teamed up with the brilliant Sam Smith for what could be the song of the year. “Latch”(Cherrytree/Interscope) is so red hot that you can’t touch it. Sam Smith is also red hot so the combination is crazy good. Ingrid Michaelson continues to pull in the spins for the best song of the Summer. “Girls Chase Boys” (Cabin 24) seems to be building at radio even as some move it to re-current. It’s such an stellar production and this artist has some solid staying power. We’ll see how it all play out in the remaining weeks of Summer.
Recording artist Bill Curreri is exploding at the format with a brilliant single. “Son Of An American Dream” (BCM) is his debut track from an album of the same name. The single has ranked at the top of the “most added” for several weeks and is now moving up the charts at record speed. For those of you that are not on it – what are you waiting for? MacLear & Waters have a good thing going and make no mistake about that. “Someday” (Meg) is their latest and greatest and radio loves it. Chakra Bleu is also on the move in a big way with the brilliant and powerful “The Shadow” (1746).
Flaunt has teamed up with recording artist Justin Jennings for a brilliant offering. “Codon” (Anticodon) is the track that is setting the world on fire. All you have to do is look at this week’s chart activity to see how amazing this is being received. Brandy Moss Scott and her rendition of the classic Elton John song “Benny & The Jets” (Heavenly Tunes) is moving by leaps and bounds. The Naked Cowgirl aka Sandy Kane is breaking fast with “I Love Nick” (Sexy) and radio loves it. Marsha Jewell continues her winning ways as “Tomorrow” (Jewel Lane) moves to the top of the pack.
