About You Releases Powerful Indie-Rock Single “Farewell to Ghosts” Featuring Elliott Skinner
Max Poscente, the brainchild behind About You, has released his latest narrative, “Farewell to Ghosts (feat. Elliott Skinner).” Known for his gripping storytelling and evocative soundscapes, this new track tells a delicate story of “the juxtaposition of where society might stereotype safety vs the reality of where people on the fringes of society find safety,” explains Poscente. “Farewell to Ghosts (feat. Elliott Skinner)” is now available to stream and download on platforms worldwide.
“Farewell to Ghosts” was born during the pandemic, when Max Poscente and Elliott Skinner joined forces to craft a song that dives into the realities faced by people in the unhoused community. Inspired by a story shared by a friend from Berklee College of Music about her journey through homelessness in Savannah, NC, the song reflects on the unexpected places where individuals find security and belonging; in this case, she found more solace with her fellow unhoused community than with the housed. Poscente and Skinner were struck by the stark contrast between society’s version of safety versus the reality of what people experiencing homelessness consider safety. “I finished the song with my producer, Jeff Saenz, and I think we landed on a very special telling of this story and message.” The single features a rich musical landscape, blending About You’s signature genre-bending sound with Elliott Skinner’s soulful vocals. With heartfelt lyrics and emotive instrumentation, the indie-rocker offers listeners a powerful glimpse into the human experience, resonating with authenticity and emotional depth. The track, recorded at Modern Electric Sound Recorders, was written by Max Poscente, Elliott Skinner, and Jeff Saenz (Leon Bridges, Reverend Horton Heat, Old 97’s,) who also produced the song. “Farewell to Ghosts” was mixed and engineered by Carter Jahn (The War on Drugs, OneRepublic) and mastered by 20x Grammy Award winner Howie Weinberg (Smashing Pumpkins, Twenty One Pilots, Nirvana).
