Recording artist George Ezra has a good think going at the Hot AC format. His single “Budapest” (Columbia) is attracting a good number of our stations and the response at radio we are told is pretty stellar. The Script is back with a new track that is out of this world. “No Good In Goodbye” (Columbia) is the one that many of you are raving about. They are one of the best bands around and we’ll see how this one plays out for them in the weeks to come. No one can deny that Hozier is off to a brilliant start in his career. “Take Me To Church” (Columbia) is moving by leaps and bounds everywhere and it is fast becoming a music anthem. Just as it rises to the top get ready for “Take Me To Temple” (Studio Records) by Holiboiz featuring young rising star Yosef. Remember that you heard about this first right here on the pages of New Music Weekly.
Imagine Dragons continue to work their magic at the format. “I Bet My Life” (Interscope) is just another reason that they are one of the best bands around. And speaking about the best, if you are a teenager out there, no one is better for you than One Direction. Their “Night Changes” (Columbia) is one of their finest to date and will no doubt add more fuel to their ongoing fire. Meghan Trainor picks up where she left off last year. Her “Lips Are Movin’” (Epic/Sony) is just what the doctor ordered to make sure she is no “one hit wonder” and this track is working like a charm. Watch for even better things to come from this young super talent in the months to come.
Ed Sheeran delivers a solid gem to radio and they are loving it big time. “Thinking Out Loud” (Asylum/WB) is just the song Ed needed to get out there and in record time. There is no doubt that this artist is here to stay. Taylor Swift keeps rolling out the hits as promised. Her latest in “Blank Space” (Big Machine/Universal) continues to marvel at the AC format. Kelly Clarkson is back with one of her best to date. “Heartbeat Song” (RCA/RLG) grabs you from the very start and never let’s go. It’s great to have Kelly back at radio with such a smart and powerful record.
Maroon 5 seems to do no wrong as they continue to amaze. “Sugar” (222/Interscope) now comes along and brings them even closer to greatness. Sheppard is also thrilling radio from coast to coast. The single “Geronimo” (Republic) is ever so brilliant and it gets a big thumbs up from many of our music and program directors. We’ll see how this all plays out in the weeks and months to come but so far, so very good. Newcomer D`Shawn Eatmon is off to an amazing start. His “Forever Loved” (Life Track) spent the first few weeks high on our “most added” chart and now it racing up the charts at record speed.
Bill Curreri is back and that’s always a great thing. “Fade Away” (Ind) is his new single and radio is loving this one big time. You may recall that his first single “Son Of An American Dream” (also the title of his current CD) did extremely well at the format. This one is set to do even better. Flaunt has teamed up with the amazing Justin Jennings for another brilliant single in “Have I Made My Point” (Anticodon). Our music and program directors are all over this one and for good reason, it’s really a brilliant offering.
G2P is the new band to pay attention to. “Walk Away” (Orion Project) is their debut single and it’s been moving by leaps and bounds. This hard working band from Tampa Florida is fueled by drummer Sterling Siegfried and their future is a bright one indeed. Tierra Blanca are taking the music world by storm. Their debut single “Always My Woman” (Right) is breaking all over radio and their future is bright indeed. New Music Award nominee
Brandy Moss Scott is on fore with her new “Bye Bye Baby” (Heavenly Tunes) & Matt Backer who is also a multi-nominee continues to amaze with his red hot “Histrionic Narcissist Blues”. Ariana Hodes also continues to rock the charts with her new single “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me” (Ocala/Big Round).
