Their new release in “Animals” (222/Interscope) is getting a huge kick-start and watch for some very big weeks ahead for this monster. Nickelback has returned with a vengeance. Their new track “Edge Of A Revolution” (Republic) is pulling in huge numbers and it’s also getting a huge thumbs up from our panel of music and program directors. The David Guetta pairing with Sam Martin is proving to be a real winner. “Lovers On The Sun” (What A Music/Parlophone/Atlantic) is the single that continues to build by leaps and bounds. We’ll see how it all plays out for this new dynamic duo in the weeks to come.
Nico & Vinz are back after a few weeks off. Together these good friends and business partners are pulling out all the stops as their new “In Your Arms” (WB/WEA) breaks out big time. Also getting a big push out there at the format is Nick Jonas. His new “Jealous” (Safehouse/Island) track is the rave of the Top40 format. The new photos that have just been leaked to the media might help or hurt him, regardless the single is a smash and could be a solid #1 for him and very soon. Colbie Caillat continues to amaze us with the strength of her latest track. “Try” (Universal Republic) is just another reason that it’s great to have her back on Top40 radio where she really belongs. Keep that support going strong for her.
Tove Lo and their debut single are making some big waves from coast to coast. The single “Habits” (Island) got off to a slow start and then their label seems to have pushed the button. This act is breaking big time and they are also involved in a few other tracks that are taking off as well. Watch for some major things ahead for this outfit. Mr Probz is also making the most of his latest offering. “Waves” (WB/WEA) is making some serious “waves” from Top40 to Hot AC and for good reason, it’s a solid hit single. Word has it that the online push is just getting started and the phones and votes are building strong.
The Script are back at Top40 and it’s so good to have them around. This time out they are taking the single “Superheroes” (Columbia/Sony) out for a spin and results are amazing. Look for some good things ahead for them in the coming weeks. Newcomer Alexandra Kay is getting some major action from our panel. They just can’t seem to get enough of her amazing “No More” (Nettwork/RED) track. This is a young talent with huge potential so make sure you keep her at the top of your new music list.
Matt Backer has returned with a new single and album. “Histrionic Narcissist Blues” (Right) is the debut track from his just released Get Backer CD. We caught up with Matt at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills where he not only took the task of band leader and guitarist for the infamous ABC, he also opened the show. Look for a solid run for Matt Backer and this great new song in the weeks to come. Chakra Bleu is also getting some real love out there with her stellar “The Shadow” (1746) single.
