Jason Aldean Keeps His Name High
Jason Aldean keeps his name high atop many Country artists once again. His new single “When She Says Baby” (Broken Bow/ Sony) is getting rave reviews and many of our music and program directors are all over this one big time. George Strait has a radio hit that deserves respect and attention. “I Got A Car” (MCA Nashville) is the latest and this one is quite a strong entry. Brad Paisley appears to have another winner on his hands. We’re not really sure about all the gossip going on between him and Carrie Underwood, but we can tell you that his new track “The Mona Lisa” (Arista Nashville) appears to be well on its way to bigger and better things. Thomas Rhett has come on the scene and make no mistake about that. His latest and greatest “Get Me Some Of That” (Valory Music/Universal) should keep this newcomer moving in the right direction. Kip Moore continues to build fans and friends at radio. His new single entitled “Young Love” (MCA Nashville) is pulling record phones for every spin and this track has the legs to go all the way. Eric Church has another winner on his hands. The song “The Outsiders” (EMI) is building huge spins just about everywhere and it appears that Eric is set for yet another great year at Country radio. Tyler Farr is picking up where he left off and that’s in a very good and strong position. He’s now taking the single “Whiskey In My Water” (Columbia Nashville) out for a spin and so far that car is driving just fine. I also really love the new one from Charlie Worsham. He’s really made something out of himself and in record time so the single “Want Me To” (WB/WEA) appears to be in good shape at this very early writing. Justin Moore is also having a very good run. Many of you out there just can’t seem to get enough of his single “Lettin’ The Night Roll” (Valory)and that’s quite alright with him. Sheryl Crow has been getting plenty of love and attention from Country radio. It seems like she may have found a new home after all. The single entitled “Callin’ Me When I’m Lonely” (WB/WEA) is just what radio is moving towards these days and that put’s Sheryl back in a very safe place. Ty Herndon has another gem on his hands. Everybody seems to really be loving his latest entry in “Lies I Told Myself” (Flying Island) and for very good reason. It seems to be one of his best songs yet, but we’ll see how that all play out over the next three to four weeks. Little Big Town continues to make friends at the format. Their latest offering, the single “Sober” (Capitol Nashville) appears to be putting them back in the race. It’s also been great to see the recent success of the Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert duet. That gem of a song “We Were Us” (Capitol Nashville) moved to the top of the charts so fast that it even made Blake Shelton’s head spin. He might re-consider putting his wife back on a few of his tracks. Toby Keith has got a good buzz going and make no mistake about that. “Shut Up And Hold On” (Show Dog/Universal) is the one many are out there raving about. Newcomers Dan & Shay are having a magical time as their debut single “19 You & Me” (WB/WEA) moves to much higher ground. This is our Best of 2013 so let’s look at a couple of standouts this year. One for sure has to be the young and talented Tobi Gordon. This talented young lady has had a song on the national charts [Hot Country Singles Index, Recurrent Chart, Christmas Chart, Continuing Recurrent Chart] every week for the last 4 years or 208 weeks. Newcomer Dennis Ledbetter has jump onto the charts and is getting raves for his stellar debut single “If You Drive Me to Drinking – I’ll Buy the Gas”. Kelly Parkes continues to be a solid indie winner to be sure. Vote for your favorites now on the New Music Weekly Website. Here’s wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
