Pink Is Back At AC Format With Another Gem
Pink is back at the AC format with yet another gem. “True Love” (RCA/RLG) is finding a lot of action from a good number of our reporters. Pink also embarks on an acting career in a film set for release any day now. I’m sure she’ll do well in that field too. There is such a huge buzz for Florida Georgia Line that it’s crazy. They have teamed up with rapper Nelly for the “Cruise Remix” (Republic Nashville) that is killing out there at radio. Those young and lovable Hanson boys are back. Not sure that they are that young anymore but their single “Get The Girl Back” (3CG) shows us that they still have it all going strong. We’ll see how it all plays out in the coming weeks for this talented family. John Mayer is finally back after a break with one of his best singles to date. “Paper Doll” (Columbia/Sony) is the track and it may just put John back on top once again at a format that really loves what he does.
Anna Kendrick is a name that is starting to build strong. “Cups” (Republic/Universal/Mercury) is the single that is helping to build her a strong following. I really love the new Jack Johnson tune “I Got You” (Universal Republic). This guy should be much bigger than he is as his talent is endless. One Republic is still one of the best bands out there in radio. “Counting Stars” (Geffen/UMG) once again shows us just how good these guys really are. Watch for some big weeks ahead on this one to be sure. The Plain White T`s are back at it and make no mistake about that. “Should Have Gone To Bed” (Hollywood) is fast becoming a real favorite among our music and program directors. Gavin Degraw is also back with another winner. “Best I Ever Had” (RCA/RLG) is probably one of his best singles to date and I hope that radio gives this one a fair shot. He didn’t do “Dancing With The Stars” for nothing. Maroon 5 continue to rule the AC charts once again. You can put a star on “Love Somebody” (Octone/A&M) and thanks to “The Voice” fans, this one will do as good as any of their past singles.
Miley Cyrus is making a fast come-back already in her young career. “We Can’t Stop” (RCA Nashville) is her latest and it’s not a real good example song for young people but then again as Miley longs to change her image this song is sure to do the trick. Her good pal Selena Gomez also has a song that tries to turn an image around. With the song and title like “Come & Get It” (Hollywood) you get what is really going on here. I’m going to have to put a call into Scot Fink at Hollywood Records and get to the bottom of all of this. Frank D`Angelo continues to amaze us at AC radio with his brilliant single “Dreamer” (B.K.C.I.). Taken from the award winning film “Real Gangsters”, this gem is perfect for the Summer and the AC format. Make sure to check out the video on U-Tube and you will get a better insight as to what it’s all about. Ozicely has been making strong waves at Hot AC. Their “UP2U” (Symphonic) has never had a bad week and the numbers tell the tale. Aria Tesolin has been making some bold and beautiful moves at the format. The single “The Key” (Lucid) is excellent and make sure you spend some time with this gem. Marsha Jewell has a new smash hit with “You” (Jewell Lane) and the numbers tell the story. Matt Backer continues to rule with his amazing “Let’s Art” (Right Records). Zack Dust is on fire with his stellar “Good Morning California” and Alina Artts continues to amaze radio with her red hot “Hit The Red Light” (R.E.C.). I’ll have more next time right here.
