“Wide Eyed Wonder” Finds Beauty In The Space Between Then and Now

Erin Duvall’s new single captures the quiet, powerful choice to keep seeing the world with openness and light—even when life gives you every reason not to. Life has a way of changing you. Somewhere between scraped knees, cardboard castles, and dreaming without limits, the world starts teaching you to be more careful. More guarded. More realistic. But “Wide Eyed Wonder,” out June 19, is a reminder that growing up doesn’t have to mean losing the part of yourself that still believes in something bigger. The song lives in the space between then and now, between childhood magic and adult reality, asking a simple but powerful question: what if wonder is something we choose to hold onto?

STREAM HERE

Written by Duvall alongside Pete Sallis (3-time Grammy winner; Brooks & Dunn, Maddie & Tae) and Brian White (Jason Aldean, Rodney Atkins, Gary Allan), the track blends heartfelt storytelling with warmth, nostalgia, and emotional honesty. Childhood is painted in motion and color with barefoot summers, dandelions floating through the air and stars in your pocket,  while adulthood quietly arrives with hesitation, guarded hearts, and the slow fading of that spark.

“I remember when I was a kid

I carried stars in my pocket

I sprinkled them everywhere

My dreams were like bottle rockets”

The opening immediately pulls listeners back to a season of life where imagination felt endless and joy felt instinctive. But rather than mourning what’s gone, “Wide Eyed Wonder” leans into the idea that wonder doesn’t disappear, it just becomes a choice. “As we grow up, life shapes us in ways we don’t always expect… but it doesn’t have to take away your ability to feel joy, to stay curious, or to see beauty in the everyday.”

For Duvall, the message is deeply personal. As a single mother of four, she experiences that sense of wonder daily through her children, watching their imaginations run wild while also seeing the moments that begin to shape them. That balance between innocence and reality sits at the heart of the song. “Even in the hardest seasons, there’s something powerful about choosing to see the world with wonder,” she says.

Musically, Duvall delivers with a voice rooted in country, blues, gospel, and rock ’n’ roll, grounded in lived experience. Following her 2024 album One by One and recent releases including “Back to Me,” produced by Brian White, and her take on “Delta Dawn,” produced by Keith Thomas (Grammy-winning music producer and songwriter known for over 40 #1 singles and contributions to over 100 million albums sold worldwide, has worked with artists like Whitney Houston, Amy Grant, and Vanessa Williams), the single “Wide Eyed Wonder” sharpens her identity as an artist who doesn’t separate life from her music, she turns it into something you can feel.

Duvall has built her career on that same principle. From her music, to her children’s animated series Aunty E and her nonprofit Twice the Love Foundation, everything she creates comes back to one idea: you don’t wait for meaning. You choose it. And with “Wide Eyed Wonder,” that choice is clear. Erin offers a gentle but lasting reminder: life may change you, but it doesn’t have to take your wonder with it.

About Erin Duvall

Texas-born singer-songwriter, Erin Duvall, seamlessly embodies the roles of musician, mother, and entrepreneur, each adding to the colorful tapestry of her life and career. Raised on the foundation of country, blues, gospel, and rock ‘n’ roll, Erin’s soulful approach to music has drawn comparisons to icons like Janis Joplin, Natalie Maines, and Susan Tedeschi. Known for her raspy, powerhouse vocals, she stands out in today’s country music scene, blending roadhouse bluesy tones with an edge that’s both sultry and compelling.

Her debut album, Out of Focus, recorded in 2010 with producer Rob Giles, showcased Erin’s raw talent. After taking a break to focus on raising her four children, Erin returned to music working alongside Terry and Simeon Baker of Baker Brothers Music (Kirk Franklin, Doc Powell, Kurt Carr, Joe Pace) with renewed energy and released her latest album, One by One, on February 9, 2024. Featuring personal storytelling and rich influences from her upbringing, One by One highlights Erin’s growth as an artist and includes singles like “Walking Country Song” and “One by One.”

As a single mother, Erin has always been driven by a strong work ethic and the goal of creating a legacy that makes her children proud. She shares, “I want my children to be proud of the legacy I’m building, one step at a time.” Her commitment to family extends to the creation of Twice the Love Foundation, a charity she founded to support single parents and families in need. Inspired by her own journey, the foundation provides resources and support to empower families through outreach and partnerships.

Beyond music, Erin also created Aunty E, an animated character introducing children to the world of music. Originally developed with producer Billy Henry (The Chicks, Fleetwood Mac) and recently revamped with Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Keith Thomas (Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas, Mandy Moore, Whitney Houston, Selena), Aunty E reflects Erin’s passion for nurturing a love of music in young listeners. This beloved project, now reimagined, remains close to her heart.

In every role she undertakes—from performer to mother to entrepreneur, Erin Duvall exemplifies the modern mompreneur. Her journey is a testament to resilience, encouraging women to build meaningful lives and careers on their own terms.
