The Perfect Storm is an alt-pop rock trio from Albany, NY, known for their genre-blending sound, evocative storytelling, and electrifying live shows. With a signature mix of infectious melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and a fusion of pop, rock, and alt-country influences, the band has quickly built a reputation as one of 2025’s most exciting new acts to watch. Formed in 2020 during the isolation of the pandemic, longtime friends James Krakat (guitar, lead vocals) and Matty Kirtoglou (drums, vocals) began crafting music together, finding creative escape during uncertain times. James channeled his country roots into a solo project, Just Me, My Guitar and Harmonica, before reuniting with Matty to pursue a shared musical vision. In early 2022, they were joined by James’s longtime friend Ethan Lynch, whose energy and chemistry completed the trio. Together, they became The Perfect Storma name that reflects their dynamic chemistry and genre-defying sound. The band cut their teeth in the Capital District’s live music scene, playing packed gigs at local hotspots like The Rustic Barn in Troy. Their early shows were a proving ground for their high-octane stage presence and crowd-pleasing blend of rock power and pop polish. In July 2023, they released their breakout single “Lucky Guy,” a hook-driven anthem that soared to #5 on the National Radio Hits Top 40 chart. Their follow-up, “Magic Feeling,” hit #1 on the NRH chart, signaling the arrival of a band with mainstream crossover potential. Their debut album, Maiden Voyage, dropped on February 21, 2025, via MTS Records/Virgin/Universal.
