WOVU-FM, Cleveland’s Urban Alternative, is set to reshape its lineup of radio hosts starting this May. The station is bringing a mix of familiar voices and new shows to its schedule. It all kicks off on May 2 with the return of Cleveland radio legend Don “Action” Jackson, hosting “Friday Funk with Action Jackson” each Friday from 4-5pm. Jackson, a former favorite at Majic 105.7, is known for his deep roots in the music community.

The following day, May 3, sees a series of debuts beginning with DJ Knyce, formerly of Z107.9, who will introduce his new show “SoundBender Radio” from 5-7pm on Saturdays. Concurrently, Dave Tolliver of the group Men At Large, will anchor his syndicated show “Party and Bullish” from 7-9pm, making WOVU its new flagship station.

Also on May 3, WOVU will become the flagship station for the syndicated “Abbie Knights Show,” airing Saturdays from 11am-12pm. Adding to the Saturday lineup, DJ Lily Jade, a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, and former Z107.9 standout DJ Coco-Z will have their shows at 12pm and 10pm, respectively.

Further strengthening its lineup, WOVU welcomes the return of several veteran air talents starting May 9. Latin Assassin, a veteran of Z107.9 and La Mega, will be on air Fridays at 7pm, followed by DJ Chicago at 8pm, and DJ Greg Mack, known for his stints at WHOT and WFHM, at 9pm. The station also announces recording artist Jason Champion joining “The Ronny Knight Morning Show” on Wednesdays, with Cutmaster Slice energizing Friday mornings with “The Glory Mix” starting May 9.

Starting May 23, WOVU will host two talk shows: “The Outlaws Radio Show” featuring Darvio Morrow, a Newsweek contributor, and “The Jeff Brown Show” with comedian Cocoa Brown, known for her roles in Tyler Perry’s productions. These programming additions join existing shows by Eric Nolan of The O’Jays, DJ Kristyles, DJ Rockville, and DJ Black Unicorn.
