WCBS-FM Provides Over 55,000 Meals for New Yorkers

Audacy’s WCBS-FM provided over 55,000 meals for New Yorkers through the “Foxx & Annie Food Fund,” benefiting City Harvest. The joint effort supported the 50% of working-age households in the city who don’t make enough to cover the minimum cost of living.

“Food insecurity is a major problem for so many people, and we needed to amplify the conversation so New Yorkers could get the support they need,” said WCBS-FM Brand Manager and morning co-host John Foxx. “Our audience blew us away with their generosity. Watching New Yorkers help one another has been incredible; it’s what makes this city so great.”

From June 3-14, Annie and Foxx boosted donations through interviews with City Harvest representatives and local businesses who work with the nonprofit, including Gotham Greens and Amy’s Bread. The duo also emphasized the impact of community service and inspired listeners to participate in any way they could.

“This is a pay-it-forward endeavor,” said City Harvest Chief Policy and Operations Officer Carlos Rodriquez. “We are here to provide and support each other, to take care of your and your family’s needs and to make sure you can stay on your feet while you weather this economic storm or whatever other hardship you may be going through.”

As New York’s first and largest food rescue nonprofit, City Harvest serves millions of locals by placing quality, nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste in food pantries, soup kitchens, and other nonprofits. The organization also offers a nutrition and culinary education program about shopping on a budget and creating healthy meals from donated items.
