Top Indie Artists In Country
Florida Georgia Line are back at it again with yet another smash. “H.O.L.Y.” (Big Machine/Universal) is the one that’s pulling in big adds and numbers “out of the box”. They have also been hitting some of the morning television shows, a sign that they want this one real bad. The ever fabulous Zac Brown Band are also pulling in some rather impressive and huge numbers for their latest and greatest. “Castaway” (Southern Ground/Atlantic) is the one that everybody is raving about. If you don’t believe me just ask any of our music and program directors and they will set you straight.
Tucker Beathard has a real good thing going at Country radio and you’d better believe it. “Rock On” (Big Machine/Universal) is yet another masterpiece that is no doubt mastermind to the ever so brilliant Scott Borchetta. With Scott at the wheel anything is possible. I’m also happy to report that Sam Hunt is keeping his streak of hits alive. “Make You Miss Me” (MCA Nashville) is the one we’re talking about and this appears to be well on its way to yet another #1 single from the fast rising Sam Hunt.
Maddie & Tae are back at it once again. After a little bit of a bump in the road with their last single they are taking the song “Sierra” (Dot) out for a spin. These are two lovely and super talented young ladies and I really hope that radio embraces this single with all the love and attention it deserves. Chris Stapleton appears to be getting plenty of love from radio. His new “Parachute” (Mercury Nashville) track is getting lots of raves from music critics and radio programmers so I’d get on this sooner than later if I were you. Chris is the “real deal” and his future is ever so bright in the world of Country music.
Chris Janson is carving out quite a name for himself. “Holdin’ Her” (WB/WEA) is his latest and what a great track this is. There is quite a lot of talent going on with Chris and this single should really pull him forward with a little extra radio support. I’m also loving the new and ever cool High Valley. “Make You Mine” (WB/WEA) is a winner from start to finish and this could be a real record to watch for in the coming weeks. Make a little room on your tight list for this gem and you will not be disappointed.
The Stickers are getting in on the action and having a good time doing it at that. “Ain’t Nothin’ Better” (Woderick Music) is one to give a little extra attention to and your listeners will thank you for it. Also getting good vibes is Mary Fletcher. Her new “I Called Him Dad” (Red & Black Entertainment) appears to be well on its way to much higher ground. Allie Louise is also making tracks as the song “Stilettos” (Sixth Beat) takes flight.
The pairing of Jason Pritchett and Billy Dean appears to be working quite nicely. “Already A Dead Man” (BDMG) is the one that has been pulling in some rather impressive adds and spins. It’s an early indicator that something rather special is going on here kids. Donica Knight is all about the love as the single “Love Ain’t A Prize” (MTS) picks up steam. Also making some rather impressive motes is Michael Ray, His new “Think A Little Less” (WEA) could be just what the doctor ordered for taking him all the way one more time.
Billy Currington is one of our favorites around here and he does not disappoint as the new “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To” (Mercury Nashville) starts to break big time. Jake Owen has a good thing going with “American Country Love Song” (RCA Nashville). Newcomer Brooke Eden keeps pulling in the numbers for “Daddy’s Money” (Red Bow/Sony). Kane Brown has a huge buzz going as “Used To Love You Sober” (RCA Nashville) moves forward.
Joey Canyon, a two time NMA winner, is moving up with his ever strong “White Limousines” (Glo-Dot). Eileen Carey, also a recent NMA winner, is finding more support for her “Bring On The Big” (Rolley Coaster) single. Chuck Murphy has a solid run going for “Falling Star” (One West) his tribute to the late Glenn Frey. I’ll have more for you on greatest hits at Country next time here. Until them I will see you in and around Nashville.
