Nationally touring recording artist and creative leader Akeylah Simone unveils her powerful new single, “Black Women Feel No Pain,” a cinematic R&B protest ballad that dismantles the myth of the “Strong Black Woman” and exposes the emotional and medical biases that have shaped her lived experience.

Rooted in vulnerability, rage, softness, and reclamation, the song marks a defining moment in Akeylah’s artistic evolution — merging personal truth with cultural critique, and healing with confrontation.

“Black Women Feel No Pain” confronts the expectation that Black women must always be unbreakable. Simone reflects on years of being treated as the emotional anchor in white spaces, where she felt she wasn’t allowed to be upset, overwhelmed, or visibly in pain. The song reveals how these pressures made her physically and emotionally sick — a reality also mirrored by the medical field’s documented biases against Black women.

The track is a refusal to carry the myth of invincibility any longer.

“I wrote ‘Black Women Feel No Pain’ as a direct response to witnessing and enduring multiple tragedies in my life and the refusal of my so-called peers to not just acknowledge my pain, but to allow me the space to feel, let alone heal from the damage done,” shares Simone. “It was demanded of me to carry their pain and to place mine to the side. It was demanded of me to “keep going.” I was breaking and my history of resilience, of survival, of strength was weaponized. I’m reclaiming my humanity with this track.”
